Duties
- Implement higher‑level security requirements such as those relating from laws, regulations, and presidential directives.
- Integrate security programs across disciplines.
- Develop long‑range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
- Resolve integration issues related to the implementation of new systems with the existing infrastructure.
- Review proposed new systems, networks, and network software designs for potential security risks.

In addition to demonstrating the basic qualifications listed above, applicants must also demonstrate possession of specialized experience. You qualify at the GS‑14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑13 grade level performing duties such as:
- Applying new information technology security developments to ensure current guidelines are updated accurately;
- Applying project management principles and methods to gain an overview knowledge of future IT enterprise infrastructure;
- Processing engineering concepts to comply with organizational standards;
- Leading implementation activities; and
- Assessing new systems design methodologies to improve software quality.
