Location: New York

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a log of visitors entering and exiting the premises and record all unusual incidents per established procedures, while ensuring that only authorized personnel and visitors enter the property.
  • Surveillance of the grounds, facility and activities of the residents to prevent theft and resident harm.
  • Ensure that all doors from the facility are locked and secured.
  • Monitor fire and safety procedures.
  • Provide administrative support in the area of the office coverage, telephone and clerical work.
  • Perform light maintenance responsibilities in the absence of maintenance staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Function independently in terms of facility coverage, including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situations per agency procedures.
  • Meet with the Security Supervisor for individual and group supervision and training.
  • Assist with delivery of supplies and furniture.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one’s skills.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Three years experience as a security monitor.
  • Need to understand the issues of domestic violence and the needs of women and children.
  • Experience working in a 24‑hour residential facility, able to work with minimum supervision and as a team player.
  • Valid NY State Registration as a Security Guard.
  • Must have an ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
  • Must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
