Security Guards are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for guests and employees. The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail, a knack for problem‑solving, and an ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Roles & Responsibilities- Enforce all Park rules and regulations.
- Monitor Park assets to ensure the safety of guests and employees.
- Maintain constant vigilance while the park is operating to identify potential issues or safety concerns and communicate them to other departments and/or leadership in a timely manner.
- Conduct bag checks to prevent prohibited items from entering the park.
- Maintain compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor guest safety and communicate conflicts to supervisors on duty.
- Take control of emergency and intense situations while remaining calm.
- Professionally manage crowd control during emergency situations.
- Continuously monitor guest behaviours and attempt to curtail potential situations before they erupt.
- Exercise clear and concise communication with all park departments.
- Answer phone calls, providing pleasant and helpful contact for staff and the public.
- Assist in safety prevention efforts, including responding to safety calls, fire alarms, and emergencies.
- Utilize electronic card access, closed‑circuit television, and other audio/visual monitoring systems to supervise the response to all reports or irregular conditions.
- All other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Pay Rate: $22 / hr.
- Education:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent. Equivalent work experience will also be considered. - 1+ year of previous security or related experience highly desired.
- NY Security Identification Card required.
- Language:
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus. - Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with NY Child Labor Laws.
- Seasonal role. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shift.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to apply knowledge of security methods, procedures, interviewing, listening, and note‑taking techniques for specific situations.
- Ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion or political beliefs.
- Ability to analyze people and/or situations quickly and calmly and take appropriate actions in a quick and effective manner.
- Ability to operate a variety of electronic equipment such as cameras, radios, PCs or other communication devices.
- Ability to professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations.
- Collaborative teamwork with other members, external first responders, and emergency personnel during emergency situations.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday.
- Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
- Ability to walk, stand, or run on uphill, downhill, or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods while using computer/camera equipment.
- Ability to carry, push, pull, lift and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.
- Good visual acuity, night vision, and peripheral vision. Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
- Based in both an office setting and frequent exposure to all indoor and outdoor park environments.
- Exposure to variable outdoor temperatures, high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain and other weather conditions.
- Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments.
- Frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities.
