Location: New York
Primary Function/Purpose
The Safety Monitor will be directly responsible for all activities in the physical plant and for ensuring civility among residents, visitors, and staff. He/she controls access to the facility twenty‑four hours a day and will report any hazardous conditions within the facility and grounds to the Safety Supervisor on duty.
Primary Responsibilities- Ensures that the Safety Supervisor’s orders of the shift are followed.
- Performs and ensures that all Detex patrols are completed on a half‑hour basis.
- Communicates all pertinent information to the Safety Supervisor.
- Ensures that all entries are made and accurate in the security desk logbook.
- Obtains client signatures to complete the Daily Attendance Roster.
- Maintains a safe and secure environment for the residents, staff, and visitors.
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Must be able to rotate shifts at the discretion of the Director of Operations and/or as business needs require.
- Utilizes the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) - Client Assistance and Re‑housing Enterprise System (CARES) to complete incident reports as needed.
- Adheres to the agency dress code for Safety personnel and maintains a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times.
- Drives the facility van when required.
- Must maintain a valid NYS Security License.
- Must be available for overtime when business needs are required.
- Two years’ experience in commercial and/or residential security services.
- Must have an active New York State Security Guard License.
- Good communication and writing skills; experience working with families or homeless population.
- Must meet all requirements of the Security Guard Act of 1992.
- Must obtain a Fire Guard (F02) License.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Driver’s License preferred.
- May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule to meet job demands and deadlines.
- Periodically may bend, lift, and carry objects weighing up to seventy‑five pounds.
