Security Supervisor is a first line supervisor responsible for supervising, training, and directing Security Officers. A Security Supervisor will assume the duties and responsibilities of a Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, or Captain during the Director of Operations absence. These duties are outlined below.
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations during an assigned tour of duty, the Security Supervisor has charge of activities intended to provide assistance and protection for persons, safeguard property, and assure observance and enforcement of the Policies & Procedures of both Clients and Company.
Duties & Responsibilities- Train security employees in all aspects of the facility.
- Monitor access control, and ensure effective use of the magnetometer and x‑ray machine.
- Make rounds throughout the facility and external premises to prevent, detect, deter, and report hazardous situations, trespassers, and illegal activities.
- Respond to emergencies in person throughout the building, and provide guidance and support to line staff and subordinates.
- Complete daily security reports.
- Conduct daily security and fire safety system inspections.
- Ensure Guards complete Daily Activity Reports (DAR’S).
- Adjust staff schedules due to sick calls and unexpected staff shortages.
- Conduct roll calls.
- Maintain safety and security of clients and staff.
- Provide crisis intervention when needed.
- Assist operations Manager in preparing and executing fire drills.
- Review log book entries, incident reports, and critical administrative responsibilities on assigned shift, checking for errors and ensuring accuracy.
- Attend and conduct various meetings and trainings as needed.
- Check inventory of all assigned equipment daily, and investigate any discrepancies.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.
- Receive complaints and conduct needed investigations.
- Note conditions which are significant from a security standpoint, and take appropriate action to safeguard persons and property, maintain good order, and ensure security services are performed properly.
- Learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
- Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8 Hour Annual Certificate (must have upon hire).
- F02 Certificate of Fitness
- Fire Guard for Shelters. - CPR/AED/First Aid (must have upon hire).
- Narcan trained preferred (must have within 30 days of employment).
- Working smartphone (must have upon hire).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior security experience +.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI)+.
- Client sensitivity trained+.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends and overtime if necessary.
