Security Officer - OWTC

Overview

Security Officer at The Durst Organization. Work closely with Security Team Leaders to maintain a safe environment for employees, tenants, and visitors. Current pay rate is $22.20 per hour with eligible overtime at $33.30 per hour, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. Position will have midweek days off.

• Execute comprehensive and integrated security measures and countermeasures, adapting physically to changing needs and priorities of the Security Organization.
• Attend security posts, which may vary and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.

• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
• Agility, visual and auditory acuity to perform essential responsibilities.
• Listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non‑emergency situations.
• Stand for prolonged periods, typically for an 8‑hour shift.
• Technical aptitude and willingness to learn security x‑ray and screening procedures and use required equipment.
• Knowledge of x‑ray image recognition, magnetometer alarm resolution, and related technologies preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework a plus.
• Valid New York State Security Guard License (8 & 16 hours).

Employee must stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach, balance, stoop, crouch, bend, talk, and hear. Must lift and move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Noise level usually moderate.
