The Security Guard plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors at a transitional housing facility serving families with children. This individual is responsible for monitoring premises, enforcing site rules, managing entry/exit access, and responding to incidents professionally and promptly.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and patrol facility premises, including interior and exterior areas, to ensure safety and security.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized persons and suspicious activity.
- Greet and sign in visitors, verify authorization, and manage access to the facility.
- Complete incident reports and daily activity logs accurately and on time.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations while maintaining a respectful and calm demeanor.
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, or any security threats according to protocol.
- Collaborate with on‑site staff, including case managers, maintenance, and operations personnel.
- Communicate with local law enforcement or emergency personnel when necessary.
- Ensure security equipment (radios, cameras, etc.) is functioning properly.
- Monitor resident curfews and perform routine checks during night shifts.
- Conduct bag checks or screenings if required by site policy.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid New York State Security Guard License is required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in security, preferably in a residential or social service setting.
- Ability to work night and day shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Basic report writing and computer skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
This position involves standing and walking for extended periods and exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor patrols. The work requires attentiveness and may involve occasional conflict resolution.
