Responsibilities
The Cary Institute is seeking a reliable and vigilant Full‑Time Security Guard for the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, Monday through Friday. The guard will be responsible for securing Institute buildings and grounds, monitoring mechanical systems, and ensuring all visitors comply with established access policies.
- Perform routine checks of all Institute buildings to ensure property and buildings are secure.
- Confirm that heating and other mechanical systems are functioning properly.
- Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours.
- Approach and engage visitors when necessary to ensure compliance with access policies.
- Complete a detailed written security report at the end of each shift worked.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Valid New York State Security Guard license.
- Applicants with experience working in state/national parks or with wildlife is a plus.
- Must possess good communication skills and the ability to interact with the public effectively.
- This is a Full‑time Non‑Exempt fully benefitted position.
- Evening and night work required (4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday).
- Must be able to perform foot and vehicle patrols in varying weather conditions.
