Position: Fire Life Safety Director - Part- Time Weekend in New York
Location: New York

Fire Life Safety Director – Part-Time

Allied Universal® is hiring a Fire Life Safety Director to oversee highrise buildings near Downtown & Midtown Manhattan. Position is part-time, available Saturday mornings, pay $35.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Implement the building's fire safety plan, manage the Fire Command Station, and supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors.
  • Serve as liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.
  • Ensure all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.
  • Ensure each floor has fire safety teams including Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, and Building Evacuation Team members.
  • Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain a written log of critiques to identify potential or actual weaknesses in response time or life safety systems.
  • Provide clear direction, information, and assistance to client visitors, guests, vendors, and employees professionally and courteously during normal operations and emergencies.
  • Assist building security staff in visual inspection of visitor, vendor, and employee access badges/identification cards to verify authorized holders and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Maintain surveillance and report any suspicious persons or packages.
  • Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand or walk constantly for up to an entire shift on various surfaces.
  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift.
  • Bend or twist at waist/knees/neck occasionally.
  • Lift or carry up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Run as needed.
  • Constantly use both hands and arms for reaching, handling, grasping, and using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.
  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.
  • Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat.
  • Maintain constant mental alertness and attention to detail while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 18 years of
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public professionally and effectively; initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; computer skills may be required.
  • Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation and a pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
  • Must maintain current active status of all required licenses and carry them while on duty.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Remain flexible to ever changing environments; adapt well to different situations.
  • Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client-specific sites.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site calmly and efficiently.
  • Read, understand, and clearly speak English; constant use of speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers.
  • Ability to handle pressure of working with high volume general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment).
