Duties/Responsibilities
You will assist in monitoring this residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment. You will be part of a team that engages individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing their varied needs. You will manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self‑awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience.
You will also be responsible for screening residents and visitors at the front door, creating written documentation—including logbook entries, incident reports, and progress notes—managing inventory for supplies, maintaining fire safety drills and logs, and providing emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed. Assist with inspections and audits, escort clients, serve meals as required, help keep the facility orderly and clean, and perform related duties as assigned.
This position is subject to mandatory overtime.
Full‑time 37.5 hours per week
- Various evening & overnight schedules available
- High School diploma or GED required
- CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
- NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
- NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
- Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license
- Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
- TB clearance when required
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; effective written and oral communication skills, ability to maintain professional boundaries, basic computer literacy required; bilingual abilities a plus
