Fire Life Safety Director

Allied Universal is hiring a Fire Life Safety Director to oversee a Performing Arts Center located in Lower Manhattan. The position is full time, available Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, with a pay rate of $37.00 per hour.

• Implement and manage the building’s fire safety plan.
• Operate the Fire Command Station and supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors.
• Act as liaison to the New York City Fire Department during emergencies.
• Ensure life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.
• Conduct fire alarm drills, maintain logs, and identify weaknesses in response or systems.
• Provide clear direction and assistance to client visitors, guests, vendors, and employees during normal and emergency situations.
• Assist building security staff in inspecting visitor, vendor, and employee access badges for authorized use.
• Maintain surveillance and report suspicious persons and/or packages.
• Perform CPR, AED, and basic first aid when required.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
• Strong written and oral communication for all levels of personnel and the public.
• Computer proficiency for report preparation and logging.
• Ability to read and understand operating procedures and instructions.

• Stand or walk constantly, climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally, and occasionally bend or twist at waist, knees, or neck.
• Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds and run as needed.
• Constantly use both hands and arms for reaching, handling, and administrative tasks.
• Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) for observation, reading, and monitoring security systems.
• Work in various environments, including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat.
• Maintain constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• F85/F89 New York Fire Department Certificate of Fitness.
• At least 5 years of security experience.
• Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; computer skills may be required.
• Successful completion of a background investigation and a pre‑employment drug/alcohol test.
• Continuously maintain active status of all required licenses and carry them while on duty.
• Exceptional customer service, adaptability to changing environments, and the ability to handle crisis situations calmly.
• Intermediate computer skills for using innovative, wireless technology at client sites.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule that adapts to ever‑changing environments.
• Neat and professional appearance.
• Proper English reading, understanding, speaking, and listening skills.
