The role supports the Supervisor in overseeing shift operations and ensuring high performance across the security team. In addition to performing core officer responsibilities, the Lead acts as a shift leader—providing guidance on policy enforcement, incident management, training, and staff development. This role maintains a strong command presence, monitors high-risk patient situations, documents events thoroughly, and assumes supervisory responsibilities when needed.
The role promotes procedural consistency and contributes to a culture of safety and accountability.
Shift Support & Supervision:
Assist the Supervisor in overseeing shift operations, ensuring staff performance, professional conduct, and completion of assigned duties.
Security & Safety Response:
Maintain a visible command presence, patrol buildings and grounds, and respond to routine and emergency incidents to protect patients, staff, visitors, and property.
Patient Monitoring & Support:
Monitor psychiatric patients as directed by medical staff and manage patient property in accordance with departmental procedures.
Reporting & Compliance:
Complete accurate reports, logs, and documentation; recommend procedural improvements; and enforce departmental and hospital policies.
Leadership Coverage:
Perform the duties of shift supervisor or line officer when needed, advise on employee performance, and ensure proper equipment usage and readiness.
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military, or Security
NYS Security Guard License
Valid NYS Driver's License
Strong interest in safety and security, public safety, or law enforcement.
Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress or emergency situations.
Ability to guide and motivate team members while setting a professional example.
Maintains honesty and confidentiality; upholds departmental standards in all actions and reports.
