Overview
The Security Officer will work closely with Security Team Leaders to maintain a safe and secure environment for our employees, tenants, and visitors. Current pay rate is $22.20 per hour. Additionally, the position would be eligible for overtime for all hours actually worked, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. The overtime rate is $33.30 per hour. Wages are subject to tax with holdings and applicable deductions.
Salary is $22.20 per hour.
This position will have midweek days off.
Responsibilities- Security Officers will be required to execute a number of comprehensive and integrated security measures and countermeasures and must be able to adapt physically to the changing needs and priorities of the Security Organization.
- Security posts may vary and may include exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Must possess agility, and visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of this position
- Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non‑emergency situations
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, typically for the duration of an 8‑hour shift
- Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security x‑ray and screening procedures and use required equipment
- Knowledgeable and able to use x‑ray image recognition, magnetometer alarm resolution, and related technologies preferred
- Successful candidates will have earned their high school diplomas or equivalent. College level coursework is a plus
- Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard License (8 & 16 hours)
