Armed Security Officer

Overview

Armed Security Officer position at Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill. Variable shifts including rotating weekends and holidays.

The Armed Security Officer will perform all necessary functions to ensure the daily safety of the Garnet Health Medical Center hospital community, including patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers. Responsibilities include enforcing all Garnet Health Medical Center and Security Department policies and procedures, safeguarding personnel, preventing unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, and information, and preventing theft and damage. May provide supervision to other Security Officers at the direction of leadership.

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security or related field OR five (5) years of direct Law Enforcement/Security experience in a position of responsible charge. Active shooter response training course preferred.

Minimum Experience: Law Enforcement/Security experience required.

Required Certification/Registration: Licensed and Registered with the Armed Security Guard Registry of New York State, Valid NYS Unrestricted (full carry) firearm license, Valid NYS Driver's license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.

Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 hourly.

Light to heavy duty based on job requirements and emergency situations. May require physical restraint of patients, visitors, and others as necessary. May require armed confrontations. Maintains licensure and proficiency in protective equipment and firearms.

Environmental demands:
Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.

Physical demands:
Ability to perform full range of motion, visual and aural acuity, finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, or walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Mental demands:
Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, prioritize tasks, possess critical thinking, analytical skills, flexibility, multi-tasking, detailed attention. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or weekends.
