Job DescriptionAllied Universal is hiring Peace Officers for a College Campus located in the Upper West Side area of Manhattan.

Afternoons/Evenings and Overnights - Pay Rate: $31.55 – $32.55 per hour
Allied Universal is hiring a New York City Peace Officer. The Peace Officer will conduct foot and/or vehicle patrol (interior and/or exterior), control access and egress; monitor CCTV and alarm systems; compose reports; deter criminal activity and misconduct. The Peace Officer is a Special Patrolman with powers limited to the employee’s geographical area of employment and only while on duty, as defined by New York State law.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under supervision, provide physical security, safety, and maintenance of order in accordance with agency procedures
- Operate and monitor security equipment; report equipment needing maintenance or repair
- Patrol designated areas to maintain order, preserve the peace, and safeguard life and property against fire, vandalism, and theft
- Issue summonses
- Control crowds and maintain order in governmental or public buildings
- When directed, make arrests and issue summonses to law violators on premises
- Transport/escort and/or arrange transport of persons in custody to police precinct and record arrests
- Prepare and transmit all appropriate documentation relating to arrests
- Testify in court and other tribunals
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must reside in one of the five New York City Boroughs
- To be eligible for appointment as a Special Patrolman, an applicant must pass a background investigation and meet the following qualifications:
- Candidates should exhibit a strong interest in criminal law and public service
- U.S. citizen and resident of New York City unless exempted by law
- Currently employed or about to be employed in the City of New York for an employer approved by the Police Department
- No felony or serious offense convictions
- Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment
- Not dishonorably discharged from the military
- Not possess a condition or disability that would prevent performance of essential functions
- Character considerations based on background investigation; false statements may disqualify
- All applicants shall be fingerprinted and provide required documents to the NY City License Division
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in law enforcement, military, or professional security operations
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently; mediate conflict with tact
- Strong customer service, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
- Problem solving and active listening skills
- Ability to assess and evaluate situations quickly; identify critical issues
- Write informatively, clearly, and accurately; teamwork and attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
- New York City Peace Officer Certificate
- Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement or security
- Graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy or verified experience in law enforcement, corrections, or firefighting
- Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice
- 8+ years of military service
- Associate’s degree (or 60 credits) in law enforcement or criminal justice with active military service
