About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

Anthropic's U.S. Industrial Security team owns the company’s Facility Security Clearances (FCL), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Contracts and DD254s, Policies/Procedures/Automation/Metrics, and Compliance across the Defense Industrial Base and U.S. Intelligence Community.

We are seeking a PERSEC Management Specialist to work in lockstep with the FSO on day-to-day PERSEC casework across DoD/DoW and Intelligence Community (IC) contracts, both collateral and SCI.

You’ll act as Contract Program Security Officer (CPSO) for classified contracts, handling additions, removals, and upgrades on contracts and working directly with cleared personnel, program managers, and government sponsors. You’ll also expand our security education program and help build the workflows behind everything that touches cleared personnel: contract support, terminations, debriefs, onboarding, reporting, and training. You’ll also serve as backup to the FSO on FCL matters to ensure our continued compliance.

Why this matters: this work is critical to maintaining Anthropic's ability to support classified work with the U.S. government. You’ll be the second hire on the industrial security team since the program's inception, joining at the ground floor of a team and program that's still being built. The person in this role will have strong influence over how PERSEC processes and the function itself take shape, not just executing an established playbook.

Responsibilities
  • Act as CPSO for classified contracts: add, remove, and upgrade personnel on contracts, and optimize relationships with program managers, employees, prime/subk partners, and government sponsors
  • Enhance and execute a security education program covering in-briefs, debriefs, and ongoing training for cleared employees
  • Build and enhance workflows for the full range of PERSEC casework: contract support, terminations, debriefs, in-briefs, and training
  • Own clearance actions end to end (initiation through debrief) across DoD/DoW systems (DISS, SWFT, NBIS) and IC-equivalent processes, both collateral and SCI
  • Manage CE/CV and reportable-event intake, including foreign travel and foreign contact reporting under SEAD 3
  • Maintain understanding of FCL fundamentals sufficient to serve as backup coverage for the FSO
  • Use Claude and other AI tools to automate PERSEC processes wherever possible, with the understanding that a meaningful amount of this work will remain manual given government constraints
  • Take on special projects and fire drills as needed
You may be a good fit if you:
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance
  • Have Extensive experience in end-to-end classified contract program management
  • Have hands‑on experience with DoD/DoW and IC PERSEC processes and terminology (VARs, NISPOM, CE/CV, SEAD 3, NISS, DISS, SWFT, NBIS)
  • Have worked with several different US government agencies, and have experience with collateral and SCI PERSEC processes and requirements
  • Have experience designing, delivering, and briefing a wide range of security content to a variety of cleared stakeholders (creating, rolling out security training)
  • Enjoy operating independently across time‑bound, compliance‑driven casework with minimal oversight
  • Notice what isn't working and take the initiative to propose fixes, rather than waiting to be told
  • Are comfortable figuring out what you don't yet know but need to know, without hand-holding
  • Use sound judgment on ambiguous CI/reportability calls
  • Enjoy the building and optimization of programs as much as running them
  • Can build trust quickly with a cleared population, program managers, and external agency points of contact
  • Are comfortable directing AI tools as part of your day‑to‑day workflow rather than relying purely on manual processing
Strong candidates may also have:
  • TS/SCI eligibility
  • Five Eyes clearance program experience
  • Experience delivering security training or building
