ROLE OVERVIEW:The Security Lead oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization's physical security program, with a primary focus on managing third-party security vendors and ensuring the protection of personnel, facilities, and assets. Serving as a key operational partner to the Chief Security Officer, this role spans security operations, technology, executive and event security, and investigations, and requires a hands-on approach, regular site presence, and the ability to respond to dynamic security needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:SECURITY OPERATIONS & VENDOR OVERSIGHT
- Provide direct oversight of third-party security vendors, ensuring adherence to post orders, contractual obligations, and performance standards
- Manage and evaluate a large, geographically dispersed guard force, ensuring consistent service delivery
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and performance reviews of vendor personnel and operations
- Address operational issues, staffing concerns, and escalations in a timely manner
- Perform routine and ad hoc site visits, inspections, and security assessments
- Identify vulnerabilities and recommend practical mitigation strategies
- Ensure physical security measures (access control, CCTV, alarms, etc.) are functioning effectively
- Conduct a daily protective escort assignment in accordance with established protocols
- Support executive protection and event security operations as needed
- Assist with planning and execution of secure movements and special activities
- Assist in or lead preliminary investigations into workplace incidents, security breaches, or safety concerns
- Coordinate with the CSO, HR, and Legal as appropriate
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of incidents
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security systems and technology
- Assist with troubleshooting and coordination with vendors or IT as needed
- Provide direct support to the CSO on security initiatives, reporting, and operational improvements
- Assist with vendor management, budgeting input, and project coordination
- Contribute to policy enforcement and continuous improvement of security procedures
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in security, law enforcement, or security management
- Demonstrated experience managing third-party security vendors and large guard forces across multiple locations
- Experience in corporate, institutional, or large-scale operational environments preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field required
Must possess and maintain one of the following:
- Concealed Carry Permit, or
- LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act) certification, or
