Watch Engineer - Waldorf Astoria New York. The Waldorf Astoria New York is seeking team members to unveil a new era of luxury with a renewed environment and personalized service.
After undergoing a transformative restoration, The Waldorf Astoria New York offers guests an exceptional environment, True Waldorf Service, and a mix of 375 rooms (plus 375 residences), 40,000 square feet of event space, holistic spa and wellness programming, and a partnership with a celebrity chef. This is a Full-Time role with various shifts including overnight, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Shift: Various – must be available to work overnight shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Pay Range: The hourly rate is $31.8818 - $42.5091 per hour and is based on applicable and specialized experience.
A Watch Engineer is responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the facility in the ongoing effort to deliver outstanding service.
The Watch Engineer will be assigned to the following non-exhaustive list of tasks:
- Monitors operation, maintains and repairs refrigeration plant, including chillers, cooling tower and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; reviewing logs as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; reporting any problems/malfunctions as needed. Performs preventive tasks when required. Oversees repair and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on common areas, event spaces, hotel suites, and residential condominiums. Track status of open maintenance issues using computer software, logbook, and other systems provided.
- Diligent testing and recording of water quality levels in the boilers, condensers open/closed loop systems, and corrective measures to ensure chemical systems are in local compliance and brand standards.
- Utilize Building Management Systems and other technologies.
- Monitor and analyze energy and utilities usage, including using energy management software to track efficiency of systems like boilers, chillers, cooling towers and lighting.
- Calibrate controls, gauges, meters and equipment. Assemble, install, test, repair, and maintain electrical systems, electrical wiring, piping, plumbing and HVAC valves and appliances.
- Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions. Complete safety training and certifications to perform work tasks. Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures to avoid injury.
- Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment. Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, including using Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Maintain proper maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
- Ensure that all flammable materials are stored in OSHA and EPA approved containment devices.
- Comply with the life safety checklist, including completing the fire-pump run test and generator run test in accordance with local jurisdictions and company policies.
- Assist in training mechanical level and other departmental hires on equipment, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain proper maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions.
