Construction Service Technician Full-Time | On-Site | Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible) Role Overview

The Construction Service Technician plays a key role in warranty work, client service, and small project execution. This position is responsible for performing and overseeing repair work, closing out construction projects, and managing small‑scale assignments with a high degree of craftsmanship and professionalism.

This role blends hands‑on technical skill with strong coordination, communication, and supervisory abilities. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing subcontractors, performing light carpentry and general labor, interacting with clients, and upholding premium quality standards in high‑end residential environments.

Key Responsibilities Project & Warranty Work Execution
  • Perform and oversee repair work, warranty tasks, and small project assignments.
  • Apply skilled craftsmanship to ensure all work meets or exceeds original installation quality.
  • Diagnose underlying issues that may impact warranty repairs and determine proper corrective actions.
  • Protect client property and existing finishes before beginning any work.
Scheduling & Coordination
  • Plan each site visit using standardized checklists to ensure readiness and efficiency.
  • Confirm availability of required materials, tools, and equipment prior to arriving on‑site.
  • Coordinate flexible schedules with clients, subcontractors, and internal team members.
  • Oversee subcontractors to ensure workmanship meets quality standards and daily objectives.
Client Interaction & Professionalism
  • Communicate clearly with clients, service managers, and field teams regarding progress and next steps.
  • Work respectfully and professionally in occupied homes, minimizing disruption.
  • Ensure a positive client experience that inspires return business and referrals.
Quality Control & Documentation
  • Double‑check functionality of all repaired or replaced components.
  • Document existing site conditions to protect client property before starting work.
  • Produce detailed field reports, work orders, and client updates.
  • Maintain accurate logs for billing, material usage, and cost tracking.
Performance Goals
  • Maintain an 85% first‑visit completion rate (excluding appliance repair).
  • Achieve zero client escalation calls regarding workmanship.
  • Generate two client referrals per quarter through exceptional service and professionalism.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • At least three years of experience in high‑end residential environments as a tradesperson or laborer with carpentry skills.
  • Minimum two years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards; possession of a valid OSHA‑30 card.
  • Ability to evaluate the quality of specialty trades in high‑end renovation environments.
  • Proficient in interior painting materials, touch‑ups, plastering, taping, and skim coating.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds and navigate stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Skilled in diagnosing problems and making repairs independently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write reports, draft quotes, and prepare client updates.
  • Experience with email, Excel, project management tools, and digital punch‑list software.
  • Ability to supervise and train assistants when needed.
  • Professional, calm, and respectful presence while working in occupied homes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate teams and defuse conflict.
  • Commitment to high‑quality workmanship, service excellence, and adherence to established standards.
