Job Overview

SBC Services 59 LLC is seeking an experienced and motivated Directional Drill Foreman to lead field crews on underground utility construction projects. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of directional drilling equipment, including Vermeer 24x40 or similar rigs, while supervising crew activities, maintaining productivity, and upholding safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who takes ownership of the jobsite, leads by example, is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done, and thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate directional drill equipment, including Vermeer 24x40 or similar machines
  • Lead and supervise field crews, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality workmanship
  • Utilize locating equipment such as Digi Track Falcon F2;
    Metrotech line locating experience is a plus
  • Perform and oversee machine upkeep and basic maintenance
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and utility plans
  • Oversee hand digging, potholing, and underground utility installation
  • Assist with and coordinate traffic control activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, jobsite requirements, and project specifications
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Work 8-10 hour shifts in varying weather conditions
  • Support fast-paced project schedules while maintaining jobsite organization
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a utility or construction environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a Vermeer 24x40 or similar directional drill
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility installation practices
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-focused
  • Ability to lead by example and hold crew members accountable
Preferred Experience
  • Operation of medium to large vibratory plows
  • Electrical construction experience
  • Diesel equipment repair knowledge
  • Underground fiber optic mainline and drop installations
  • ISP / OSP construction experience
  • FTTH underground projects
  • Knowledge of RUS specifications, requirements, and regulations
  • Experience locating underground utilities using electronic locating equipment
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 800
  • CDL Class A (preferred, not required)
