You Are

A Field Technician provides on-site support for telecom, network, electrical, POS, CCTV, and A/V systems by installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment across multiple client locations within an assigned region. The role requires frequent travel and effective use of a mobile office to coordinate with clients and supervisors. Technicians perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and demonstrate proper equipment usage to end users.

The job involves physical labor such as lifting equipment and working at heights for overhead cabling. Strong communication skills are essential due to direct client interaction.

A Field Service Technician possess strong technical skills to independently install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair telecom, network, electrical, CCTV, A/V, and related systems while delivering high-quality, customer-focused service. The technician should be reliable, self-motivated, and capable of managing time effectively while traveling frequently within the assigned region. They are expected to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently using appropriate tools and innovative approaches, while strictly following safety standards and compliance requirements.

Clear communication with clients and internal teams, along with accurate documentation of work performed and reported issues, is essential to ensure smooth operations and continuous service improvement.

A Typical Day looks like…

A typical day for a Field Service Technician begins with reviewing work orders, schedules, and service requests using a mobile device or dispatch system. The technician then travels to client sites to install, maintain, or repair telecom, network, electrical, or related equipment. On-site, they diagnose issues, perform testing, replace or configure components, and ensure systems are functioning properly. Throughout the day, they interact with clients to explain work performed, provide usage guidance, and ensure satisfaction.

The technician completed tasks, issues, and resolutions, communicated updates to the technical team or supervisors, and followed all safety procedures before moving on to the next assignment.

Field Service Technicians are typically measured in their ability to deliver efficient, high-quality service while maintaining safety and customer satisfaction. Key performance measures include the number of service calls completed on time, first-time fixed rate, and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs). Employers also evaluate the accuracy and timeliness of documentation and reporting, as well as the technician’s ability to diagnose and resolve issues effectively.

Customer satisfaction scores, feedback, and professionalism during client interactions are critical indicators. In addition, compliance with safety standards, quality of workmanship, and effective communication with internal teams are used to assess overall performance.
