Diesel Technician

Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Entry Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Long Island City, New York. For more info call Suzanne or text "Long Island City" to 904‑869‑3430.

• Hourly Pay: $34.24 per hour
• Certification Bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification
• Quarterly Bonus up to $500 every quarter
• Tool Box/Tool Allowance
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday (weekends off)
• Hours:
  
  Second Shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
• On‑the‑job paid training
• PPE and uniforms issued
• Tool and boot allowance provided
• State‑of‑the‑art equipment

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic tools are required
• One (1) year or more experience in transportation maintenance preferred
• Valid CDL Class A preferred (must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire)
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively, work shift/weekend as required, perform all entry‑level tasks, and demonstrate mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills

• Performs basic vehicle maintenance
• Performs component identification and minor repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance with training and support
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Perform all entry‑level tasks
• Diagnoses minor mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Performs other related duties as assigned
