Electrician - 91717

The Division of Administration, Bureau of Operations seeks to hire an Electrician.

Responsibilities
  • Installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of electric wiring systems, components, equipment and apparatus in or on building structures in accordance with the NYC electrical code and relevant plans or specifications.
  • Installation and repair of raceways and electrical conductors.
  • Testing existing installations to identify faults and perform necessary repairs.
Preferred Skills

Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York, to be maintained for the duration of employment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Five years of full‑time, satisfactory experience as an electrician.
  • Or at least three years of full‑time, satisfactory experience as an electrician plus sufficient full‑time, satisfactory experience as an electrician’s helper or apprentice, or education in the electrical or electronic field from an approved trade, technical school, vocational high school, or college/university to make up the equivalent of the remaining experience. Undergraduate college credit may substitute for experience on the basis of 30 credits for one year of experience.

    Six months of acceptable helper/apprentice experience is credited for each year of such experience or education. Less than a full year of helper/apprentice experience or relevant education receives prorated credit.
  • License Requirements:
    Candidates for certain positions must possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York and maintain it throughout employment.
  • For assignment as a special electrician, candidates must possess and maintain the license(s) and/or certificate(s) required to perform those duties.
  • 55a Program

    Residency Requirement

    New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. Discuss the residency requirement with the agency representative during the interview.
