Position will report to and assist with work at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, 5901 S. Highway 163, Columbia, MO 65203. Primary work duties include maintenance on the Mid-West section of the Katy Trail from Pilot Grove to Mokane. Typical work schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30‑minute lunch break. Shift times may vary occasionally.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of semi-skilled work in maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair or alteration of state buildings and facilities. Work area includes Katy Trail State Park.
- Work in various trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities and grounds.
- Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
- Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds‑related equipment.
- Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loaders, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
- Basic computer and customer service skills for timekeeping and regular report tracking.
- Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed; including completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
- May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
This position may be required to obtain and maintain an appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certifications. If required and the candidate does not currently possess this license/certification, they will be given six months to obtain the necessary license/certification.

Equivalent to 1‑3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete & masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience.
