DEPARTMENT: New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center

REPORT TO: Assistant Director of Training

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Storefront & Curtain Wall Instructor to train and mentor journeymen in the proper installation, assembly, and understanding of commercial storefront and curtain wall systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience, the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, and a passion for teaching and developing skilled tradespeople.

Job Responsibilities
  • Instruct and train journeymen in storefront and curtain wall systems.
  • Teach proper installation techniques, sequencing, and best practices.
  • Interpret and explain blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Demonstrate layout, fabrication, and assembly of storefront systems.
  • Ensure all training follows safety standards and industry guidelines.
  • Evaluate trainee progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist in developing training materials and lesson plans.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Must be a member in Good Standing with The New York City District Council of Carpenters.
  • Proven experience with commercial storefront and curtain wall systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Solid understanding of system components, glazing methods, and installation procedures.
  • Prior teaching, training, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Patience and ability to work with varying skill levels.
  • OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyze reports and data relevant to instructional outcomes.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of managing tasks through to completion.
  • Able to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
