Facilities Maintenance Mechanic (Manhattan, NY)
What this job involves:
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic serves as a versatile, hands‑on service professional who supports the Facility Manager with day‑to‑day repairs across retail properties in Manhattan. This role covers carpentry, plumbing, painting, lighting, and general building systems, ensuring properties maintain optimal conditions for client occupancy and operations.
- Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders for carpentry, plumbing and other installed systems.
- Conduct facility inspections and due diligence, reporting on conditions that impact client occupancy and operations; complete interior maintenance tasks such as hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, repairing minor office furniture, and fixing doors.
- Replace lighting fixtures and ballasts throughout assigned properties.
- Update work order status in real time daily and use CMMS systems such as Prism for all work performed.
- Submit expense receipts, perform vehicle safety inspections, and raise issues to customers and managers promptly.
- Complete required safety trainings, hazard assessments, and comply with safety procedures while maintaining good housekeeping.
- Support after‑hours emergencies and building‑related activities as required, remaining available for emergency call‑in work.
- Navigate applications through iPad, respond to emails, and attend work and safety meetings as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of applicable experience in general building repair and maintenance, painting, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Strong background in carpentry, general building repair, maintenance, and plumbing.
- Ability to work independently, make solid decisions in the field, and resolve basic problems autonomously.
- Mechanically skilled and capable of operating hand and power tools.
- Good communication skills and proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work from heights.
- Capability to climb ladders up to 30 ft with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying ~20 lbs of tools.
- Comfortable working in adverse conditions (extreme cold, extreme heat).
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, lift, kneel, stoop, and work/extend overhead.
- Willingness to drive for long periods of time.
- Adaptability with client deliverables and ability to multi‑task effectively.
- Experience with defensive driving practices.
- Familiarity with state, county, or city building ordinances, codes, or laws.
- Knowledge of safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.

CompensationEstimated compensation for this position: 71,009.00 – 71,009.00 USD per year.
