Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II $2000 New Hire Bonus
Location: New York

Mobile Diesel Technician II

Hourly base pay rate: $32.07 - $48.13 per hour. The rate may vary based on location and candidate qualifications. Position may also include commission, incentive programs, and a $2,000 new hire bonus (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).

Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems; starters, alternators, fan clutches; engine electronics; diesel steering systems; gas and diesel engines; automatic and manual transmissions; clutches and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems as needed—covering electrical, braking, cooling, HVAC, fuel, hydraulic and electronic diagnostics.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment; use electronic test instruments and pressure gauges to determine malfunctions.
  • Road‑test vehicles to verify proper operation after repairs.
  • Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment; reconcile periodic inventories.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle; conduct pre‑ and post‑trip safety inspections.
  • Document all work, upload pictures and parts used, and record findings on Repair Orders via the TRAIT iOS application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other required documentation on time.
  • Work independently, manage daily schedule, and stay within standard repair time expectations.
  • Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support team to obtain approval on repair estimates and purchase orders.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA, EPA, and DOT safety regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED plus at least 3 years of experience in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess a complete set of hand tools required for the job.
  • OEM training and certifications preferred; must complete all company‑required training.
  • Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT medical physical.
  • Valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining may serve as alternative to DOT physical.
  • Must be 21 years or older (interstate operating authority regulations).
  • Safe driver with a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license, capable of maintaining a Driver Qualification File.
  • Required certifications (or to be obtained within 18 months): ASE T8 (PMI), ASE 608/609, ASE T2 (Diesel Engines), ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE A8 (Engine Performance), ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist), ASE L2 (Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist).
