Position Summary
First Student is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in West Coxsackie, NY serving the Coxsackie-Athens Central School District.
Pay Rate: $28.00-$30.00 hr.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm
- $5,000 HIRING BONUS
- Perform maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drive trains, & transmissions
- Complete work orders
- Assist with mobile emergency services
- Maintain fleet of newer vehicles to ensure road‑safe operation
- Use diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues and plan repair work
- 3 years of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to obtain a CDL (training provided)
- Mechanic’s tool set
- Strong desire to grow, learn, and develop skills through ASE testing
- Ability to work in a role that meaningfully impacts the community
- No college degree
- Military experience
- Returning to the workforce
- Looking for hourly (not flat‑rate) jobs
- $28.00-$30.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications (not flat‑rate)
- ASE incentive of $0.25/hour for each relevant ASE obtained (training materials and exams reimbursed)
- Full‑time shift Monday‑Friday 7:00am‑4:00pm

Mechanics and technicians are subject to DOT drug testing as a safety‑sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
