Electrician The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a full-time Electrician to support the Engineering Department at the Bath VA Medical Center within the Finger Lakes Healthcare System. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, installation, and modification of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, circuits, and related controls in a major medical facility.

Key Responsibilities:
Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. Work with secondary power distribution lines and circuits supplying voltage at 460 volts and below. Maintain and repair distribution panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, industrial multiphase systems, fire alarm systems, intrusion alarm systems, emergency warning systems, lighting systems, rectification systems, amplifier circuits, and related electrical equipment.
Document completed maintenance work and maintain preventive maintenance logs. Use building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance manuals to plan and lay out electrical work. Install wiring, conduit, couplings, relays, fixtures, transformers, distribution panels, boxes, fittings, connections, and electrical service entrance equipment. Perform programming, pretesting, functional testing, final testing, tuning, alignment, and calibration of complex electrical and electronic systems.
Install, overhaul, repair, fabricate, and modify electronically controlled industrial systems, components, and subassemblies. Maintain and repair electronic sensing and control systems, including centralized monitoring and control systems and Programmable Logic Controls.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be suitable for federal employment, as determined by a background investigation. Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959. Must complete all application requirements and online onboarding requirements. Must demonstrate training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of the Electrician position. Experience should show the ability to assemble, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical equipment and systems.
Must be able to interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical orders. No formal education requirement is listed for this position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach areas. Requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts weighing up to 20 pounds, and periodically up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift or move heavier objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. May involve repairs and installations in bad weather, noisy areas, dirty or dusty spaces, greasy work areas, confined spaces, tunnels, crawl spaces, manholes, and elevated areas. May be exposed to hazards such as cuts, bruises, falls, electrical shock, burns, and moving rotary equipment. Benefits:
