Position: Technical Resource Advisor for Carpentry
Location: New York

the technical resources department is seeking a qualified supervisor of carpenter to serve as the technical resource advisor for carpentry. The role oversees special repair projects, executive and mayoral programs, manages backlogs, performs site inspections to ensure quality assurance and compliance with code requirements, prepares job orders, estimates needed materials, and maintains inventory for materials, tools and equipment.

duties
  • supervise and coordinate daily activities of carpenters and other assigned personnel.
  • plan, assign, and review work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • interpret blueprints, drawings, and project documents to guide carpentry tasks.
  • ensure proper use and maintenance of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.
  • monitor work progress and make adjustments to schedules as needed.
  • inspect completed work to confirm compliance with safety standards and building codes.
  • train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to carpenters.
  • enforce safety protocols and promote a safe work environment.
  • communicate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate activities.
  • assist with material procurement and inventory management for carpentry needs.

note: if this appointment is made on a provisional basis pursuant to 65 of the nys civil service law, no tenure or permanence accrues to an incumbent in this position by virtue of such appointment.

minimum qualifications
  • seven (7) years of recent, satisfactory, full‑time, paid experience as a carpenter, including at least two (2) years in supervisory roles; or
  • a satisfactory equivalent.
