Crops and CommoditiesHarvest work includes but is not limited to asparagus, cucurbits, sweet corn, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, Romanesco, hops, parsley, and herbs. Duties involve driving equipment for tilling soil, planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops; using hand tools such as shovels, hoes, and knives; operating planters; spreading ground cover and cleaning plastic; weeding, transplanting, staking, pruning, and setting poles for vine plants; installing irrigation systems;
applying pesticides, fertilizer, and crop protectants; grading and field‑packing products; and performing stooping and kneeling tasks. Work is physically demanding and occurs under cold, wet conditions in the spring and extreme heat in the summer.
Assist with farm building and field maintenance; install and maintain irrigation systems and water lines; move and install irrigation pipes; dig and maintain ditches; operate levee gates; prepare and propagate hops—including cutting rhizomes, storing in cold storage, filling bins with potting soil, planting rhizome pieces in greenhouse, sorting hop plants, and maintaining pole structures; weeding and tying hop bines; removing and reinstalling drip tubing;
rolling, tying, and installing tubes; gathering hop clusters for harvest; baling and sewing hop bales; cleaning and sweeping the baler floor; mixing hops; tracking harvest data; unloading trailers; and ensuring all activities comply with USDA GAP certification standards.
- 2 months of verifiable agricultural experience, preferably on a vegetable farm.
- Subject to random drug testing post‑hire at no cost to the employee.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Lifting requirement of 60 lbs.
- Repetitive movements, extensive pushing/pulling, walking, and frequent stooping.
