Location: New York
Job Overview
- Report to and assist your immediate supervisor.
- Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
- Practice safety rules and use hand & power tools safely.
- Maintain accountability for all tools and materials at shift end.
- Work well as part of a team.
- Measure distance from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight line.
- Grade lumber stacks for reuse and level earth to fine grade specifications with a shovel.
- Assist in dumping concrete into forms and direct other laborers in the concrete paving crew.
- Construct shoring, braces, and paint pipe joints with sealing compound.
- Assist in setting pumps and well‑points.
- Assist heavy‑construction equipment operators (cranes, power shovels, backhoes) by aligning equipment, verifying grades, and signaling operators to adjust machines.
- Direct truck drivers and scraper operators to dumping positions as instructed by the Grading or Dumping Foreman.
- Occasionally use small power tools.
- May work as lead man in a labor crew and exercise independent judgement to plan routine work without explicit instructions.
- Other related duties as required.
- Comply with the company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Pass a physical examination and any pre‑employment health evaluations required by the company.
- Be able to climb, balance, and work on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, towers, vessels, or excavations.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights in confined spaces.
- Carry tools and/or materials of up to 50 lbs.; assistance is required for items over 50 lbs.
- Stand or walk for long periods; work extended hours on uneven surfaces such as dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, or gravel.
- Maintain a clean‑shaven appearance and wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment as required.
- Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.
- Uneven ground
- Obstructed pathways
- Low/high elevations
- Confined work spaces
- Predominantly outdoor work
- Exposure to:
- Extreme heat or cold
- Humidity, rain, and other weather conditions
- Loud noise from tools and machinery
- Potential chemical exposure
- Some industrial/construction/general labor experience.
- Post‑offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
- New Hire Orientation Quiz completion.
- Applicant must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
- Job site safety requirements (clean‑shaven, long sleeves, steel‑toe boots, etc.)
- Required safety equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
