Master Mariner

Brookes Bell is recruiting Master Mariner candidates for its US (NY/NJ) offices to conduct forensic investigations of marine casualties and related incidents on a global basis.

• To carry out investigations and assessments relating to Master Mariner matters
• To perform onsite surveys relating to Master Mariner matters
• To produce letters and reports detailing the findings of their investigations and/or attendances
• To provide expert evidence in court/arbitration in relation to their written expert testimony
• To provide advice/support to clients in mariner related matters
• To follow company operating procedures
• To carry out and assist in marketing activities
• To assist in discipline related and group business development initiatives
• Any other adhoc duties which fall within the individual’s abilities

• Qualified Master Mariner, ideally with Command experience
• The ideal candidate would have experience sailing as Master on Tankers or offshore drilling vessels/rigs.
• Highly motivated and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail
• Must be based within commuting distance of one of Brookes Bell’s offices.
• Must be fluent in English, able to converse on technical matters and write reports.
• Must be willing to travel internationally at short notice
• Able to work alone on site, without direct supervision.
