Job Summary

The Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury is seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facility's maintenance department, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, heat pumps, and refrigeration units.
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC system issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, including motors, thermostats, wiring, and other components.
  • Respond to emergency HVAC situations promptly to restore service and ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
  • Be on-call for after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as needed.
  • Support the maintenance team with special projects and renovations.
Education/Experience/Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • HVAC certification from an accredited trade school or equivalent apprenticeship program.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
  • Experience in HVAC maintenance and repair, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including their operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that require climbing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
