HVAC Service Technician

Brooklyn, NY (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens) | Full-Time | $36-$41/hour

Diagnose Complex Problems. Deliver Lasting Solutions.

MR. AIR NYC is a specialized HVAC company serving NYC's high-value residential properties -- brownstones, townhomes, historic homes, and custom retrofit projects. We're a Mitsubishi Elite Diamond Contractor, known for combining HVAC expertise, building science, clean installation practices, and a premium client experience.

We're hiring an HVAC Service Technician to join our field team. This role is for a technician who enjoys troubleshooting, solving complex problems, and working in homes where quality, professionalism, and clear communication matter.

You'll diagnose and repair ductless mini-split systems, heat pumps, air handlers, central systems, and related components. The right person understands that great service means identifying the root cause, documenting clearly, and helping homeowners understand the value of the solution.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair ductless mini-splits, heat pumps, air handlers, and central HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical components, inverter boards, controls, wiring, refrigerant issues, and airflow problems
  • Perform maintenance, deep cleanings, tune-ups, and repairs
  • Use diagnostic tools to test circuits, pressure, temperature, static pressure, and amp draws
  • Document before-and-after service measurements through company systems
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners in a professional, customer-focused way
  • Identify recurring issues caused by installation, sizing, airflow, or building envelope problems
  • Work safely in historic homes, tight spaces, ladders, rooftops, and finished interiors

What You Bring

  • 3-5+ years of HVAC service and/or installation experience
  • Strong experience with ductless mini-splits, heat pumps, and air handlers
  • Knowledge of small electronics, inverter technology, controls, wiring, and diagnostic testing
  • EPA 608 Certification required
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to operate a service van safely throughout NYC
  • Strong verbal communication and professional customer service skills
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs., climb ladders, crawl, and work in tight spaces

Preferred:

  • Personal HVAC service tools (tool purchase assistance available)

What You'll Get

  • $36 - $41/hour (based on experience)
  • Full-time, W-2 position
  • Company-provided service vehicle
  • Tool purchase support / buying program
  • Advanced technical training and building science exposure

After probation:

  • 10 days paid time off
  • Paid federal holidays
  • Health insurance (company contribution 50%)
  • IRA retirement plan with 3% company match
  • Career growth:
Senior Diagnostic, Field Leadership, or Technical Director roles
