Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic – Apprentice or Licensed
Hourly Rate: $32-39/ hour

We are looking for a Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support a busy rental equipment operation. This role is ideal for someone with experience repairing construction, aerial, or heavy equipment, or for a strong 3rd or 4th year apprentice who is ready to take the next step in their career.
You do not need to be fully licensed to be considered. A license is an asset, but what matters most is your mechanical ability, work ethic, safety mindset, and willingness to learn.
About the RoleAs a Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will travel to customer sites to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of construction and rental equipment. You will play an important role in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the jobsite.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and taking pride in quality workmanship.
What You’ll Be DoingYou will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing, repairing, and servicing construction and rental equipment in the field
- Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues
- Performing inspections to identify faults, damage, or potential equipment failures
- Repairing or replacing defective parts, components, and systems
- Testing repaired equipment to ensure it is operating safely and properly
- Completing preventative maintenance, lubrication, and routine service work
- Servicing attachments, accessories, and related tools
- Ordering parts as needed to complete repairs efficiently
- Completing service reports and repair documentation accurately
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe service vehicle
- Working closely with service, branch, and operations teams to support customers
- Following all health, safety, and environmental procedures
The ideal candidate will have:
- Hands‑on mechanical experience with construction, rental, agricultural, truck, automotive, or heavy equipment
- Experience with equipment such as aerial lifts, skid steers, excavators, loaders, compactors, generators, or similar machinery
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Hydraulic system knowledge
- A valid G Class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
- A customer‑focused approach and professional communication style
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
- A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Personal tools required for the role
These are considered assets, but not mandatory:
- Heavy Equipment Technician license
- 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship status
- Experience with CAT, Genie, Skyjack, or other construction equipment brands
- Familiarity with diagnostic systems such as ET, SIS, or similar platforms
- Field service experience
- Experience working in a rental equipment environment
