Ground Person (Quarry)
The Ground Person – Quarry is responsible for supporting daily quarry operations through general labor, housekeeping, inspections, material handling, and assistance with plant operations and maintenance activities. This position works throughout the quarry around heavy equipment and aggregate processing systems and helps maintain safe, clean, and efficient operations.
The essential functions include protecting the work environment, respecting and engaging with team members, assisting with routine maintenance and repairs, conducting workplace examinations, maintaining clean and organized work areas, supporting material processing and production activities, communicating with team members, ensuring safety around mobile equipment, and performing general labor and other operational support activities.
Requirements, education, and experience needed include prior experience in aggregates, crushing, asphalt, construction, quarry, mining, or a related heavy-industrial environment, demonstrated mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication experience, MSHA certification or willingness to obtain required training, ability to work safely around moving equipment, elevated work areas, conveyors, and heavy materials, experience operating heavy equipment, ability to read and follow equipment manuals, work orders, safety procedures, and basic diagrams, valid driver's license, high school diploma or GED preferred, and authorization to work in the U.S.
Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to work locations throughout the company based on the needs of the business. Works primarily outdoors in an active quarry environment with exposure to heavy equipment, uneven terrain, dust, noise, vibration, and weather extremes. Requires frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing/pulling, and working t routinely lift/carry up to 50 pounds and wear required PPE.
