Location: Arverne

AMR is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to maintain and repair our ambulance and medical transport fleet. In this critical role, you will diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all units meet safety, regulatory, and infection-control standards for patient transport. You'll troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, document work in fleet software, and coordinate with operations and clinical teams to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on ambulances and support vehicles
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks on fleet vehicles
  • Ensure all vehicles meet DOT, OEM, and company safety and regulatory standards for patient transport
  • Document all work performed in fleet maintenance software with accurate parts and labor records
  • Respond to urgent repair needs to minimize vehicle downtime and support continuous operations
  • Collaborate with operations and clinical staff to prioritize vehicle readiness and maintenance schedules
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment following OSHA and company policies
  • Assist with parts ordering, inventory control, and vendor coordination as needed
  • Support vehicle modifications and equipment installs for medical and communications gear
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and compliance training
