Electrician/ Electrician Installation
under the general direction of the fire alarm unit leader, the responsibilities of the fire alarm technician include but are not limited to the following:
- independently perform inspection, service, repairs, installation, and programming of commercial fire alarm systems.
- independently perform troubleshooting and fault diagnostics of fire alarm devices, wiring, and software.
- may supervise and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel and assist in training staff members.
- provide field oversight and qa/qc review of contractor work and verify compliance with applicable codes and standards. Witnesses and conducts inspections and tests to verify that installations and repairs are completed in a workmanlike manner and follow good engineering practices.
- set priorities, schedules and coordinates work by contractors and in-house personnel. Regularly visits and inspects sites.
- may issue change orders to original specifications to accommodate changing field conditions or to correct specification errors or omissions; upon supervisory approval of recommendations, prepares change orders.

minimum qualifications- fdny certificate of fitness s-98, s-12, s-13 or ability to obtain within 90-days of employment and maintain throughout employment
- valid driver's license
- nicet level ii in fire alarm systems
- factory training certificates from edwards, kidde, notifier
- nyc master electrician
- nfpa certified fire protection specialist
- nys code enforcement official certificate
- bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, or fire science
