HVAC Journeyman - Centrifugal Chillers Lead - Sign-On Bonus Eligible

Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time HVAC Journeyman - Centrifugal Chillers Lead.

Location:

Long Island City, NY / NYC.

• Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes.
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks.
• Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipe fitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment.
• Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment.
• Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedules, and operating manual usage.
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units, including directing apprentice-level technicians through hands-on demonstration of necessary steps.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
• Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and microcontrollers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and a clean work area are always upheld.
• Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred).
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accepted as Journeyman by the union.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required.
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians.
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred).
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Hourly rate: $58 - $62 in NY, subject to the CBA.
• Benefits provided through a local labor union and aligned to the CBA.
