Commercial HVAC Service Technician - Own the Toughest Systems in NYC

New York, NY

Keep New York’s Commercial Buildings Running

You’re the tech they call when the system is down, the space is hot, and nobody else can find the problem.

In this role, you’ll own commercial HVAC service and troubleshooting across the NYC market – rooftop units, splits, package units, air handlers, heat pumps and more. You’ll be the face of our client on-site, working directly with building owners, property managers, and facility teams.

You’ll diagnose, decide, and fix – electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues – and you’ll have the independence to make smart field calls.

If you’re a seasoned commercial HVAC service tech who loves solving problems right the first time and taking real ownership of your work, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Work On

You’ll be hands-on with a wide range of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems, including:

  • Rooftop units (RTUs)
  • Split systems and package units
  • Air handlers and fan coil units
  • Heat pumps and related equipment
  • Commercial heating equipment and controls
  • Refrigeration circuits and components
  • Electrical components: compressors, motors, contractors, relays, sensors, thermostats, VFDs
  • Building automation systems and commercial HVAC controls (plus)
What You'll Be Doing
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, servicing and repairing commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment
  • Performing service on RTUs, split systems, package units, air handlers, fan coils, heat pumps and other commercial HVAC systems
  • Troubleshooting compressors, motors, contractors, relays, sensors, thermostats, VFDs and related electrical components
  • Diagnosing refrigeration circuit issues including pressures, temperatures, airflow, refrigerant charge and component failures
  • Working on commercial heating equipment and associated controls
  • Performing preventive maintenance, inspections and equipment start-ups
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, specifications and manufacturer technical data
  • Using meters, gauges and diagnostic equipment to accurately identify system problems
  • Replacing defective components and making electrical, mechanical and refrigeration repairs
  • Identifying additional repair needs and clearly communicating recommendations to customers and management
  • Completing service tickets and documenting work performed, materials used and equipment condition
  • Working independently in the field while coordinating with dispatch, project managers and other technicians
  • Maintaining professional relationships with building owners, property managers, facility personnel and general contractors
  • Following OSHA, company and jobsite safety procedures
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC service experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic background in mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, specifications and product data
  • Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
  • Clean and valid New York driver’s license
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have personal hand tools
  • Comfortable working throughout the NYC market
  • EPA Universal Certification preferred
  • OSHA 30 strongly preferred
  • NYC Fire Department Certificates of Fitness a plus
  • Experience with building automation systems and commercial HVAC controls a plus
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You’re the go-to commercial tech who doesn’t guess – you diagnose. You’re comfortable on a NYC roof in January, in a mechanical room in August, and in front of a demanding property manager any day of the week.

You move confidently from electrical to refrigeration to controls, you document your work cleanly, and you take pride in leaving every system better than you found it.

Why This Opportunity?

This is a stable, long-term role with a growing service team in one of the busiest commercial markets in the country.

You won’t be micromanaged – you’ll be trusted to run your calls, solve problems correctly, and take ownership of your systems and customers.

If you’re an experienced commercial HVAC technician who wants steady work, real responsibility, and a company that values strong troubleshooters, this is your next move.
