Role Description The Installation Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, United States, responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fire protection and security systems at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting plans, running and terminating cabling, mounting and connecting devices, and performing functional tests to ensure systems operate correctly and safely. The technician will diagnose and resolve technical issues, document work performed, and collaborate with team members to complete projects on schedule.
This role also involves interacting professionally with customers, explaining system features, and supporting a positive service experience while adhering to all safety regulations and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Technical installation skills in cabling and device setup, with the ability to read basic schematics and use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose, repair, and verify proper operation of fire protection and security systems.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to explain work clearly, support customer satisfaction, and collaborate with team members.
- Understanding of safety practices and regulations related to fire protection, electrical work, and job site safety.
- Prior experience in fire protection, security systems, low-voltage systems, or related fields is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site, including standing, lifting, and working on ladders or in confined spaces, as required by the job.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in fire protection, security, or electrical fields are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
