The OpportunityA & J Installation is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician / Installer to join our established, family-owned company.
In this role, you will primarily perform residential HVAC service, repairs, troubleshooting, and equipment replacements. You will also support light-commercial customers, including offices, retail spaces, and rooftop package-unit systems.

How You Will Make an Impact- Diagnose, maintain, and repair residential and light-commercial HVAC systems.
- Perform replacement installations of furnaces, air-conditioning systems, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, and related equipment.
- Independently manage assigned service calls and communicate findings clearly to customers.
- Prepare accurate repair and replacement estimates using company-provided field-service technology.
- Recommend appropriate solutions without unnecessary or high-pressure selling.
- Perform startup, testing, and quality-control procedures following repairs and installations.
- Complete accurate service notes, equipment documentation, photographs, and customer updates using a company-provided tablet or smartphone.
- Work safely in attics, crawl spaces, basements, mechanical rooms, and on flat commercial rooftops.
- Collaborate with technicians, helpers, office staff, and company leadership to complete work efficiently.
- Participate in the company's weekly on-call rotation.
- Assist with residential service-plumbing work when trained and qualified.
- Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle and professional appearance while working in customers' homes and businesses.
- Relevant HVAC service, repair, or replacement-installation experience.
- Ability to independently diagnose common residential HVAC system issues.
- Experience working with furnaces, air-conditioning systems, heat pumps, mini-splits, air handlers, and related controls.
- EPA Refrigerant Certification.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners and commercial customers.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in confined or elevated areas.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to participate in a weekly on-call rotation.
- Three or more years of HVAC service or installation experience.
- Experience independently running residential service calls.
- Experience performing HVAC replacement installations.
- Familiarity with light-commercial rooftop package units.
- Residential service-plumbing experience or willingness to be cross-trained.
- Experience preparing repair or replacement estimates.
- Familiarity with Housecall Pro, Service Titan, or similar field-service software.
- Strong customer-service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A dependable, flexible, and team-oriented work style.
- $30–$45+ per hour, based on demonstrated technical ability, independence, and overall experience.
