Unitec seeks an experienced A Elevator Maintenance Mechanic for its New York City (NYC) location.
Responsibilities:- Inspect elevators of all types and makes, diagnose faulty operation, make necessary repairs and adjustments, and troubleshoot problems.
- Diagnose equipment deficiencies and recommend significant changes or requirements.
- Install, maintain, and repair elevators, escalators, and other lifting equipment.
- Analyze and repair failures, especially in emergencies.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is functioning correctly.
- Respond to emergency repair calls promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
- Provide excellent customer service to building owners and occupants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must have a valid NYS & NYC Mechanics License.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or technical school training in elevator repair.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in elevator repair and maintenance.
- Considerable initiative and a high degree of ingenuity are required.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Elevator Mechanics work in various building types, including commercial, residential, and industrial settings.
- Exposure to heights, confined spaces, and loud noises.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials or conditions including electrical shock, falls, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Elevator Mechanics must be able to lift heavy objects and equipment up to fifty pounds (50lbs) or more, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- The job may require standing for prolonged periods of time and working in awkward positions.
- Manual dexterity for handling small tools and parts., good vision for close work, and reading schematics.
- Moderate contact with regulatory agencies, customers, contractors, and management.
