Iceplex Facilities Technician

Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation seeks an Iceplex Facilities Technician to support SUNY Morrisville's student-focused ice arena. This role maintains ice surfaces, refrigeration and HVAC equipment, and general building systems to ensure a safe, reliable facility for games, practices, and events. Duties include preventive maintenance, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, event setup, and responding to work orders. The technician collaborates with campus staff, follows OSHA and safety standards, and supports a welcoming, service-oriented environment that enhances campus life and student success.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance of ice surfaces, boards, and dasher systems to ensure safe playing conditions.
• Inspect, operate, and perform basic service on refrigeration, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Complete general building maintenance including plumbing, lighting, and minor electrical repairs.
• Monitor facility conditions, respond to work orders, and document maintenance activities.
• Set up, tear down, and support events, practices, and recreational activities at the iceplex.
• Follow all safety, OSHA, and campus compliance standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Coordinate with campus and auxiliary staff to support student-centered operations and schedules.
• Assist with seasonal projects, equipment inspections, and preventive maintenance programs.
