Job Title:
HVAC Project Manager
Job Purpose:Become a part of a family owned and operated Plumbing, HVAC & Refrigeration Service Company in Montauk, and assist us in handling jobs & running our teams as our company grows and business increases.
Duties will include but may not be limited to:-Oversee all aspects of projects including: lead generation, job opportunities, meet & greet customers, measurements, calculations, specifications, parts lists, supplier comparisons, keeping bids organized, PO’s, technical or mechanical drawings, pricing, proposals & estimates, sales, scheduling, ordering, receiving, site visits, project meetings, installation & follow up in the following areas:
-Residential & commercial plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration & water filtration
-Become knowledgeable in code compliance and best practices for the above system types
-Become knowledgeable in code compliance and best practices for the following fuel sources: LP Gas, #2 Fuel Oil, Natural Gas, Electric & Geothermal Systems
-Run point for installations on new construction & renovations proposed & spec’d out by others
-Prioritize service, repair, preventive maintenance & installations in order of importance based on level of emergency, while offering priority of service to full-service customers
-Creation of estimates & proposals in Ignite, follow Ignite processes for ordering, inventory, receiving & timely processing of paperwork to ensure database is updated with accurate pricing before jobs are billed out
-Handle technical explanations of estimates & proposals to customers, in layman’s terms so they may better understand their options & feel confident in their decisions
-Build relationships with our suppliers, learn their strengths & weaknesses & help develop preferred vendors lists for specific parts & fittings to simplify ordering processes & pare down parts database
-Build relationships with manufacturer’s reps & coordinate training sessions for our teams, coordinate with reps over different design plans & ideas for best possible installations
-Build a knowledge base of necessary & useful hand tools, vehicles & other tools as well as how to maintain them and best practices for their use. Share this knowledge with staff as applicable
-Obtain or maintain any licenses or certifications available to individuals working in this industry (ex. CTEP, EPA Certification, OSHA, engineering licenses, plumbing licenses, etc.)
The ideal candidate has developed a proficiency for the following abilities:-Able to work alone or successfully lead a team of technicians & explain technical aspects of construction & mechanical systems to them so that they may learn & improve their skills – while maintaining a professional atmosphere and setting a consistent positive example in appearance, organization, communication, work ethic & attitude
-Experienced & knowledgeable in the construction industry, Understanding of the order of operations, local, state & national code compliance, and safety procedures & best practices
-Advanced computer literacy & mastery of email, interoffice communication & messaging apps, internet, G-Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other applicable CAD software as needed
-Ability to pick up & master new software such as Manual J calcs, Fujitsu diagnostic apps, Ignite, etc.
-Ability to multitask or quickly jump from one topic to another
-Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm manner, following steps to diffuse & improve the situation quickly
-Physical abilities: carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, moving heavy equipment with a team
Skills/Qualifications:
