Union Engineer Helper
What this job involves:

The Engineer Helper will support the engineering team in maintaining a large commercial office building, helping to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for tenants, visitors, and colleagues. This role requires a hands-on approach to building operations, including maintenance, repair work, and responding to day-to-day operational needs across common areas and tenant spaces. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong teamwork, and a commitment to delivering quality service while contributing to JLL's culture of collaboration locally and across the globe.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work across building systems, fixtures, machinery, and equipment in both common and tenant areas.

  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned maintenance tasks and repairs.

  • Assist with preventive and scheduled maintenance programs, including completing work orders and updating equipment and building maintenance records.

  • Respond to tenant and customer inquiries in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner, escalating issues when appropriate.

  • Support plumbing maintenance activities, including inspecting, installing, repairing, and replacing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.

  • Perform electrical maintenance duties such as inspecting, maintaining, and repairing lighting systems, wiring, and power circuits.

  • Complete painting and patchwork repairs, including drywall and plaster repair, painting, insulation repairs, and filling holes or cracks.

  • Respond to after-hours emergency calls and work overtime when emergency situations require additional support.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with management, team members, contractors, and building occupants while following all safety procedures and operational standards.

Required qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using hand tools and power tools in a maintenance or engineering environment.

  • Ability to take directions from supervisors and work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with tenants and colleagues.

  • Willingness and ability to attend Local 94 union school for 3 years while holding the position.

  • Ability to work overtime and respond to after-hours emergency situations as needed.

  • Certificate of Fitness A-35 - Operate and Maintain Air Compressors.

  • Certificate of Fitness P-98 - Fuel Oil Piping and Storage System.

  • Certificates of Fitness S-12, S-13, and S-14 for sprinkler and standpipe systems.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working in commercial office buildings or large-scale facilities environments.

  • General knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance practices, and facility operations.

  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices and high-quality workmanship.
