Austin Plumbing & Heating Co. Inc. is a family-run NYC Licensed Master Plumber (LMP #1879) with Rispoli family roots in the trade dating back to 1968. We provide gas piping and utility restoration, boiler and steam heating, DOB violation removal and compliance services, and full-service plumbing to homeowners, building owners, and property managers across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Our master plumber is involved in every job, and our work is completed to code and properly documented.

Position

Summary

We are seeking an experienced, gas-qualified Plumbing Mechanic to join our field team. This role covers a broad mix of gas, heating, plumbing, and compliance work under the direction of our Licensed Master Plumber. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and represents the company professionally in customers' homes and buildings.

Key Responsibilities

Install, repair, and replace gas piping systems in residential, multifamily, and commercial buildings
Perform pressure tests and support DOB inspections and utility gas restorations with Con Edison and National Grid
Diagnose, service, and repair boilers, steam and hot water heating systems, and water heaters
Perform plumbing repairs and installations, including fixtures, drain lines, and backflow devices
Complete corrective work to resolve DOB and HPD violations
Document completed work, including photos, test results, and notes needed for permits and inspections
Communicate clearly with homeowners, building staff, and property managers, and keep work areas clean and safe

Required Qualifications

Active NYC DOB Gas Work Qualification (Full GWQ)
Hands-on plumbing experience in New York City, residential and/or commercial
Working knowledge of the NYC Plumbing and Fuel Gas Codes
Valid driver's license
Your own hand tools

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with boilers and steam heating systems
Experience with DOB or HPD violation removal and compliance work
Additional credentials, such as a DOB Journeyman Plumber registration, LL152 Periodic Gas Inspector training, NYS DOH backflow tester certification, or an NYC SST card

Work is performed in occupied homes and buildings, including cellars, boiler rooms, mechanical spaces, and rooftops, and in varying weather conditions. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.

$38–$50 per hour, commensurate with experience and credentials
Consistent, year-round work across a variety of projects
Direct mentorship from a Licensed Master Plumber with 25+ years of NYC field experience
