Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

Catskills Equipment is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, and commercial diesel machinery. This role requires a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Pay is based on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in heavy equipment including skid steers, forklifts, excavators, and farm/agricultural machinery.
• Perform routine maintenance on industrial equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications.
• Utilize schematics to troubleshoot 12V electrical systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and HVAC components.
• Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes to ensure proper functionality after repairs.
• Fabricate parts or brackets as needed using shop welding techniques and power tools.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
• Maintain accurate records of all service work and labor hours performed on equipment.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on heavy equipment and diesel engine repair (on-site dealership or farm machinery experience is a plus).
• Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with various types of machinery including skid steers, forklifts, excavators, and agricultural equipment.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent communication skills to provide effective customer service.
• Must possess your own standard set of tools and a valid driver's license.
