HELP USA is seeking a Senior Intake Supervisor who will take full responsibility for the overall operation of one of our shelter sites during those work shifts and other time periods when director-level Social Service or Safety staff are not on duty at the facility. Operational responsibility will be primarily during evening, night, and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities- Supervising Intake Supervisor and Intake workers.
- Conducting or supervising regular inspections of the facility, including all sleeping areas.
- Supervising intake, bed assignments, and related client service activities.
- Supervising the safety and incident reporting systems and overseeing liaison with DHS security staff as necessary.
- Collaborating with other shelter and program staff to ensure the safety of clients and maintaining a positive working relationship with any social service subcontractors at the facility.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations as stipulated by NYS DHS,S OTDA, NYC FDNY, NYC Dept. of Health, NYC Coalition for the Homeless, etc., including incident reporting, logbook entries, bed checks, client belongings, security, and client care.
- Supervising facility maintenance staff on duty and ensuring that the facility is well-maintained in the absence of the maintenance supervisor.
- In the event of insufficient staffing, assume direct service/program responsibilities in addition to the above.
- High School Diploma or GED required, with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- New York State Security Guard License Required.
- FDNY F-80, F-02 required, CPR/First certification required.
- Experience with the homeless population, preferably in a shelter setting.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft applications and database systems required. CARES Database experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state and local laws.
